The military authorities in South Sudan’s Unity State have reportedly executed at least three opposition commanders allied to General Stephen Buay Rolnyang, two days after their arrest by members of Sudanese security forces.

The three officers are Maj-Gen. Nyuon Garang Kuol, Maj-Gen. Pur Ruop Kuol, and Brig-Gen. Gatluak Majiok Liey.

They are blamed for the 22 July attack on Mayom County headquarters in which the county commissioner was killed along with 12 service members of South Sudan Peoples Defense Forces.

The three opposition commanders had been handed over to the government of South Sudan after a request was made by Juba.

Their leader Gen. Stephen Buay claims the three commanders were allegedly executed by the governor of Unity state near a river in Mayom town at 5 AM Monday morning.

Gunmen whose identity is not yet known has killed a commander of Ebubeagu, a militia group established by Imo state government.

The security commander identified as Izuchukwu Akuegbulanwa, popularly known as 'Ogwu' was shot in the bush after being abducted within the week.
