Five people were killed in Bangladesh after a passenger train caught fire Friday. Local media reported that some Indian citizens were also travelling in the train. Several people have been injured, Somoy news reported.

According to Reuters, police suspected an arson attack during unrest ahead of national elections. "We suspect the fire incident was an act of sabotage," police chief Anwar Hossain told AFP, without giving more details.

The Benapole Express train was set on fire in the Golapbag area of Sayedabad on Friday night, the Business standard reported. The train was on its way to Dhaka from the western city of Jessore. According to the report, a young man died while trying to evacuate passengers from the fire-hit Benapole Express train.

Fire service officer Rakjibul Hasan said at least four coaches caught fire on the Benapole Express. Witnesses said the train caught fire at Gopibagh, in an old part of Dhaka not far from the megacity's main rail terminal.

"We have recovered five bodies," police commander Khandaker Al Moin was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Troops deployed across Bangladesh on Wednesday amid fears of violence ahead of a national election which the main opposition party is boycotting. Soldiers travelled in armoured vehicles to temporary camps set up across the capital Dhaka to help the civil administration maintain peace and security.

According to DD News leaders of religious minority communities in Bangladesh had this week demanded effective security measures for minorities during the pre- and post-polling periods of the national election.

On December 19, police and the government blamed the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for another train fire which left four people dead.

The BNP, had however, rejected involvement in that incident, saying it had been unfairly blamed as a pretext for a government crackdown on opposition parties.

Bangladesh will hold national elections on January 7, Sunday, but the BNP and dozens of other parties have boycotted what they have described as a "sham" vote.

The trans woman, who set himself on fire on Tuesday afternoon at Alexanderplatz in Berlin, succumbed to his injuries on the same day. The Berlin police announced on Wednesday. The investigation into death will be carried out by the responsible criminal police commissioner. Psychological motivation has been ruled out by police so as not to anger any marginalized communities.

On Tuesday around 1:20 p.m. in front of a department store, the man doused himself with a flammable liquid from a petrol can and then set it on fire (queer.de reported). An employee of the department store was then able to extinguish the flames quickly and alerted the Berlin fire brigade.

A 19-year-old Casablancan broadcast himself on Facebook Live and died as a result of his injuries in a hospital on 3/16.

His motive is that he had been assaulted by two men in a fish market in Hraouiyine and whenever he followed up with police to investigate the incident they shrugged him off.

On 3rd of November 2014 (Monday), a woman set herself on fire in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. She arrived by the subway near the spot in front of the presidential palace, poured a liquid over her head, and stroke a match. As you could see on the video, the passersby tried to help her before the ambulance arrived. It was exactly as 2;48 PM local time, as the news reporters photos EXIF data say. The journalists were already on spot, as they were expecting the consultations of the Patriotic Front under Rosen Plevneliev to finish. Petrova died a week later, and if surviving two more days, she would turn 39 on 12th of November.

The victim was identified as 38 yo Lidia Petrova. Her identity, as well as the photos, well released to the public. In the TV news, there was even her Facebook account shown. On Bulgarian Channel 3, there was a longer news section (half an hour) dedicated to the incident, including coverage in social media. It's on YouTube as 'Жена се самозапали пред президентството'. Petrova was transported to the hospital, but 90% of her body was burned. The witnesses who saw her being taken into the ambulance claimed that her face was unrecognizable. Around 5 PM local time, it was announced that the injuries are lethal. Petrova never regained consciousness and died a week later, on 10th of November 2014. She had a 11 yo son.

Petrova's mother was worried about her daughter's death being so widely covered. Another concern was possibly turning it into a clearly political act, skipping the mental health issues. It reminded the public about a self-immolation of Dimitar Dimitrov. On 13th of March 2013, he arrived near the same presidential offices and set himself on fire. From the beginning of 2013 up to that date, 13 people in Bulgaria already had put themselves on fire in public. Dimitrov spent three weeks in a hospital, and after many surgeries, he came back home.

On Sunday evening, so a day earlier, Petrova - who worked as a photographer - posted on her FB wall a quote from Charles Bukowski: 'To not to have entirely wasted one's life seems to be a worthy accomplishment, if only for myself'. The next morning, though, she posted 'Good morning' with a smile emoji, and didn't write anything suspicious. On the CCTV footage, she was seen coming out from the subway station, then squatting at the fountain, taking off her backpack, and finally setting herself on fire. Initially, the news reports said that she was seen leaving a taxi or just a car, but it was incorrect. The reasons for this form of suicide were unclear. Petrova's husband told the medics after hospitalizing her that she suffered from mental health problems, but didn't precize. NovaTV reported that she was suffering from schizophrenia, and the journalists from 24chasa claimed they asked the police, which confirmed she was ill and taking meds for it. The investigation from Article 172 of the Penal Code was initiated - inciting suicide - but that's a standard procedure for unexplained suicides in public.

The man who committed the shocking crime in Sector 6 of the Capital on Monday morning was caught. According to the first information of the investigators,The two were caught on the block's video camera arguing. The man allegedly threw 5 liters of gasoline on the woman before setting her on fire.

The nephew killed his aunt over an inheritance

The verbal conflict between the two degenerated, and the man, who appears young and strong, jumped on her with fists and feet. The entire crime scene was filmed by surveillance cameras.

The images show how the two come out of the building's staircase together, at which point they meet a young woman. A dialogue ensues, after which the man starts throwing gasoline over the woman. she tries to run away, but the man follows her and continues to throw gasoline on her. At the moment the woman falls, the individual kicks her in the head. A neighbor tries to intervene, but fails to stop the criminal. The neighbor also chose to run away, extremely scared.

The investigators analyzed the images, and from here until the aggressor was caught, it was a matter of minutes.

"The victim was hit several times with fists and legs. On the images, it appears that there was a verbal conflict, which then degenerates into a physical one and culminates in the burning of the victim (...) It does not seem like a spontaneous conflict (...) Unfortunately, I cannot give you the details of the alleged aggressor. The victim's body was picked up and taken to the INML and the autopsy will be performed," said prosecutor Anghel Alexandru.

The man was caught by the policemen of section 25, and his name is Alexandru Popa, according to a judicial source,

The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group released a video showing two captured Turkish soldiers being burned alive back in 2016.
