A young woman who was stabbed to death in Sharjah was named as Lubna Mansour, an engineering graduate from Jordan.

The married expat died following an attack on Friday afternoon.

Sharjah Police said a suspect was arrested within two hours of the killing. He faces murder charges and a potential death penalty if convicted.

Police, who did not name Mansour or her attacker, did not comment on or confirm Jordanian media reports that claimed her husband was the attacker.

According to the police, Neha Hiremath, 21, daughter of HDMC councillor Niranjan Hiremath, was stabbed by her classmate Fayaz. The accused, a resident of Savadatti in Belagavi district, was seen on CCTV footage stabbing Neha multiple times before fleeing the spot.
