It's Ayrton Senna: Ayrton Senna da Silva (21 March 1960 – 1 May 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver who won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 1988, 1990, and 1991. One of three Formula One drivers from Brazil to become World Champion, Senna won 41 Grands Prix and set 65 pole positions, with the latter being the record until 2006. He died as a result of an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, driving for the Williams team.
On 1 May 1994, Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna was killed after his car crashed into a concrete barrier while he was leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at the Imola Circuit in Italy. The previous day, Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger had died when his car crashed during qualification for the race. Several other collisions took place that weekend, including a serious one involving Rubens Barrichello. Ratzenberger and Senna's crashes were the first fatal accidents to occur during a Formula One race meeting since that of Riccardo Paletti at the 1982 Canadian Grand Prix, and were also the last until that of Jules Bianchi at the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. This became a turning point in the safety of Formula One, prompting the implementation of new safety measures in both Formula One and the circuit, as well as the Grand Prix Drivers' Association to be reestablished. The Supreme Court of Cassation of Italy ruled that mechanical failure was the cause of the crash.

Context:
The Kiss nightclub fire, one of the most devastating tragedies in Brazilian history, occurred in the early hours of January 27, 2013, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This catastrophic event resulted in the loss of 242 lives and left at least 630 people injured. The incident unfolded at a freshers' ball organized by students from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), with most victims aged between 18 and 30 years.
What contributed to this happening:
The fire was ignited by a pyrotechnic device, similar to a signaling flare, used by the band Gurizada Fandangueira during their performance. The pyrotechnics accidentally set alight the flammable acoustic foam in the ceiling of the nightclub. Contributing to the high number of casualties was the lack of emergency exits; the club only had one main entrance and exit, leading to a deadly crowd crush as people attempted to escape. Colonel Guido Pedroso de Melo of the Rio Grande do Sul Fire Department reported that the club's front door was locked, trapping the victims inside.
The fire started and the band soon after a few minutes noticed the fire and all the people panicked. Many people were trampled to death as they tried to flee, But the vast majority confused the exit door with the bathroom, due to the only light there was in the middle of the darkness of the place and all that smoke. Piles of charred bodies were forming in the bathroom. The burning foam released cyanide, which rendered those young people unconscious and killed them. Whoever entered the bathroom thinking it was the way out, couldn't get out, and then died there... The Kiss nightclub had not been inspected since 2012 and the fire extinguishers were broken, empty and in some places there were no extinguishers.

Television coverage on the day of the incident:
Television coverage made on the day of the incident, where the reporter talks about many people being prevented from leaving due to the very narrow exit, which resulted in people being trampled and suffocated inside. It is possible to see survivors trying to help firefighters remove people who were unable to get out. Later survivors of the fire stated that security guards tried to block the public from leaving during the fire until they were knocked down by the crowd. Those in the VIP wing had a better chance of survival because the location was closer to the exit.

Condolences and my solidarity with the relatives of the victims and survivors of this tragedy. The whole of Brazil still does not believe that this has happened. There were 242 lives taken, 242 destinations interrupted, 242 families that cry to this day. May this never happen again.
And may the culprits be duly punished.
