ST. LOUIS — A Kirkwood man accused of running a red light and hitting and killing two tourists downtown early Wednesday has been released from custody on bail.Monte Henderson, 22, posted 10% of his $200,000 bond on Friday, court records show. He had been charged Thursday with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the deaths of Laticha Bracero, 42, and her daughter Alyssa Cordova, 21, after police say he blew through a red light on Olive Street and hit them in a crosswalk after midnight Wednesday.
Bracero and Cordova were in town from Chicago attending a Drake concert at Enterprise Center Tuesday evening.
Police said Henderson was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee more than 70 mph on Olive Street when he ran a stoplight at 18th Street in the Downtown West neighborhood, hitting multiple vehicles and the two pedestrians.
Judge Annette Llewellyn set bond Thursday at $200,000 or 10% cash. Henderson has no prior felonies, and Judge Llewellyn did not consider him a threat to society or a flight risk.
But St. Louis police Officer Matthew Wieczorek, in the probable cause statement he filed in the case Thursday, said he did believe Henderson is a danger to the community and would not appear on a summons.
Llewellyn, a former public defender, was one of former Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner's first hires when she took office and headed the prosecutor's diversion programs for a month before former Gov. Eric Greitens appointed her circuit judge in 2018.
While traffic fatalities in the city have fallen back toward pre-pandemic averages, the crash Wednesday again refocused attention on the reckless driving incidents that have put city leaders under pressure to respond to pedestrian and motorist safety. And Henderson's release may again raise questions about pretrial detention policies in St. Louis Circuit Court.
A year ago, a car crash that injured a teenage girl in town for a volleyball tournament — an annual event that had downtown St. Louis streets and sidewalks packed with young athletes and their parents on Saturday — amplified calls for Gardner to resign. Her critics pointed to the driver's many violations of his bond for other criminal charges at the time of the crash, questioning why prosecutors hadn't moved to have him jailed.
Meanwhile, aldermen and Mayor Tishaura O. Jones a year ago approved a $40 million package for traffic-calming infrastructure, but those projects are still in the planning stages. And St. Louis police, which are grappling with some 300 vacant positions, made about half as many traffic stops in 2021 as they did in 2009 — back when there were also just half as many traffic deaths on the city's streets.
“While the City has made significant investments in traffic and pedestrian infrastructure, reckless driving continues to be an urgent and immediate issue that directly affects the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors alike,” Jones said in a statement the day after the crash on Olive Street.

Not sure if repost. If so probably not a 60 day repost.
It's kinda weird how innocent and I spose 'naive'( not sure if that's the right word) everyone was. Like it feels like everyone sorta couldn't make sense of what was happening in the video. I know with hindsight everyone says things like 'oh god it was terrifying at the time'. But as the video shows, at least from this distance it was kinda too surreal to really comprehend fully
Anyway I thought I'd seen most 9/11 footage but I had never seen this one, so I can't be the only one.
No idea what flair, feel free to change. Also happy to remove if it IS a less-than-60-day repost
Also here's a link to the video on YouTube:

Happened on May 20, 2018, around 4:21 am on Rostovskoye Shosse, Krasnodar, Russia
Stanislav Yeromin (25) decided to go fishing. He went to his neighbors, Dmitriy Isayev (19) and his father Sergey Isayev (40). They got into Stanislavs VAZ-2112 and set off.
At around the same time, Vladislav Anosov, famous dentist and businessman, owner and ordinator of Center for Modern Dentistry DoctorStom (Центр современной стоматологии ДокторСтом) was driving drunk in his Mercedes S-Class. He had a fight with his wife the day before and was drinking heavily. Reportedly he was also being chased by the police.
On Rostovskoye Shosse he reached around 200 km/h. Then he crashed into the back of VAZ driven by Stanislav.
All three men were ejected from the vehicle. Stanislav, who was driving, and Dmitriy, who was sleeping on the back seat, died on spot. Sergey, who was seating in the front, was seriously injured, but he survived. Anosov wasn't even slightly injured.
Mother of Dmitriy, Ludmila Isayeva arrived first on the scene of the accident. Doctors forbidden her telling Sergey that their son had died. All this time, no one was allowed to come near Anosov, he was being guarded by five policemen.
"I asked, why he wasn't taken for a drinking test. They told me, that he refused to take one. They put him on a front seat of a police car, where he was talking on the phone with someone. I think he might be on drugs."
Said Ludmila
According to her, the investigation was almost not existing and Anosov was allowed to have a house arrest.
"Only after we found an attorney, the investigator said, that he was waiting for me."
She told Bloknot Krasnodara she was afraid, that person with a lot of money can avoid responsibility. Also Anosov tried negotiating with victims families through his attorney.
"His attorney called us and offered an agreement. We refused."
Spokesman of local police, Artem Konovalenko, confirmed that Anosov was drunk, when the accident occured and that Mercedes significantly exceeded the speed limit. He didn't confirm that Mercedes was being chased by the police tho.
Sergey, the only passenger that survived, learned about his sons death from the wife of Anosov. She was the first person to contact victims families and she confirmed that her husband got drunk and drove off in his Mercedes after a fight with her.
"About my sons death, I learned from his (Anosov's) wife. I was in a hospital, when she entered the room and told me: You son was buried today. I told her, that I didn't knew he died."
Said Sergey
Ludmila says that the reason for the tragedy may be a conflict on Anosovs family.
Anosov's wife called me and asked for a meeting. When we met, she started crying, begging for forgiveness. She told me it was all her fault, because she started a fight with him. She told me: He wanted to leave the family, but we have four children. He got angry because of this and that's why all this had happened.
In the end, Anosov was sentenced to four years suspended sentence. The court took into account the circumstances: Anosov plead guilty, showed sincere repentance, had four underage children and paid compensations for material and moral damage to the victims.

A motorcyclist died from injuries he sustained when he collided into a minibus while performing a stunt on the St Margaret's Bay main road in Portland on Saturday.A video of the two-vehicle bang-up has gone viral on social media.
The deceased is Rushawn Miller of Black Hill district, Portland.
Police reported that about 3:15 pm on Saturday, Miller was driving the motorcycle when he attempted to do a 'wheelie' and lost control of the unit, which slammed into a white minibus that was being driven in the opposite direction.
Miller was flung from the motorcycle upon impact, and sustained multiple injuries. He died at hospital.
In the viral video that appeared to have been recorded by another motorcyclist, Miller can be seen driving on both sides of the roadway.
He then attempted to drive the motorcycle on one wheel across the median into the opposite side of the roadway, where he was hit by the oncoming minibus.
"No fadda Gad (God), no!" shouted the videographer after the collision occurred.
Miller was seen lying on the side of the road before the video ended.
There have been mixed reactions to the video on social media, with some persons blaming the motorcyclist for causing his own death, while others insisted that the minibus driver should have slowed down.
"I'm praying for him (the motorcyclist) and his family. We all did silly stuff when we were young. It's not the time to play blame game," said a man on Facebook.
"The bus driver could have slowed down when he saw him (the motorcyclist) from afar," a woman suggested.
"Young people do crazy things. Prayers for his family," she added.
Another woman disagreed with that view, arguing that the bus driver should not be blamed.
"He (motorcyclist) was the one who swerved into the bus. Watch the video again," she stated.
