A newly-elected barangay councilor in Davao del Norte, Jay Glen Dela Rama, was shot dead by a suspected gun-for-hire in San Isidro town. Dela Rama, a retired member of the Philippine Army and businessman, was attacked inside his roadside store. Security footage showed the assailant approaching him and shooting him repeatedly. Dela Rama died in the hospital from his wounds. The suspect escaped on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice. Police are investigating the incident and whether it's related to Dela Rama's recent election as a councilor.

A woman was shot to death this Friday when she was talking on the street, in the city of Trujillo , La Libertad region, the National Police reported.

The victim was identified as Margarita Celestina García Horna (53), who was attacked by a hitman in the vicinity of sector 1 of Las Palmeras, in the district of La Esperanza.

Security cameras in the area recorded the moment in which a man, with his face covered with a mask, walked towards the woman to shoot her at point-blank range, in front of another witness with whom the victim was. A little dog that was next to the victim was also shot.

The police are already investigating the incident to find the whereabouts of the hitman.

With this crime, the number of homicides rose to 114 in the La Libertad region .

Subjects dedicated to extortion arrested

A total of 14 people have been arrested in a mega-operation by the Public Ministry and the National Police in the early hours of this Thursday, against alleged members of the criminal gang "Los compadres Nueva Generación", in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad region.

This was confirmed by the fiscal and police institutions, who indicate that the investigation revealed that this criminal organization would be dedicated to aggravated robbery and extortion.

According to the investigation, this criminal gang would be led by two people, who have been identified as Marco Antonio Mostacero Briceño and Carlos Aljovin Parihuaman Saavedra. The operation was carried out in different parts of the city of Trujillo.

Antonio Maria Ribeiro, 42 years old, was shot dead in the Iguaçu Falls Center, this Monday (3) The man was shot while he was in front of the motorcycle taxi service point, during the afternoon. Civil Police investigate the case to identify the perpetrators of the crime. Information must be passed to 181, 190 and 197. The body will be forwarded to the IML of Cascavel.

A man identified as Alison Henrique de Oliveira, 26, was shot dead on Wednesday night (7) in Paiçandu.

Alison was with his girlfriend, who was celebrating her birthday, when he was surprised by a hooded man who arrived at the establishment where the couple were having a snack and fired several shots. Most of the shots hit the victim in the head.

There were several people in the establishment, including the elderly and children. The crime shocked the people who were there. A security camera caught the crime. The scenes are strong and show the entire criminal action.

The young man who was murdered had previous convictions for drug trafficking and theft.

Alison's body was collected and sent to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) in Maringá. The Paiçandu Civil Police are investigating the crime.
