The heart rate progresses from an average of 72 beats per minute (bpm) to a ventricular flutter (>250 bpm) followed by a ventricular fibrillation (>350 bpm)

This is the last step before the heart flatlines and proceeds into cardiac arrest, when it stops pumping all together.

Cocaine prevents the cleanup of stress chemicals in the brain. The heart becomes quick and inefficient, reducing blood flow, and dies due to a lack of oxygen.

Pfeiffer syndrome is a rare genetic disorder, characterized by the premature fusion of certain bones of the skull (craniosynostosis), which affects the shape of the head and face. The syndrome includes abnormalities of the hands and feet, such as wide and deviated thumbs and big toes.

Pfeiffer syndrome is caused by mutations in the fibroblast growth factor receptors FGFR1 and FGFR2. The syndrome is grouped into three types: type 1 (classic Pfeiffer syndrome) is milder and caused by mutations in either gene; types 2 and 3 are more severe, often leading to death in infancy, caused by mutations in FGFR2.

There is no cure for the syndrome. Treatment is supportive and often involves surgery in the earliest years of life to correct skull deformities and respiratory function. Most persons with Pfeiffer syndrome type 1 have a normal intelligence and life span; types 2 and 3 typically cause neurodevelopmental disorders and early death. Later in life, surgery can help in bone formation and facial construction.

Pfeiffer syndrome affects about 1 in 100,000 persons.

Many of the facial characteristics result from the premature fusion of the skull bones (craniosynostosis). The head is unable to grow normally, which leads to a high, prominent forehead (turribrachycephaly) and eyes that appear to bulge (proptosis) and are set wide (hypertelorism). In addition, there is an underdeveloped upper jaw (maxillary hypoplasia). More than half of children with Pfeiffer syndrome have hearing loss; dental problems are common. A baby with Pfeiffer syndrome may have a small, beak-shaped nose; crowded, crooked teeth; and sleep apnea, due to nasal blockage. There are three main types of Pfeiffer syndrome: type I is the mildest and most common; type II is the most severe, with neurological problems and a cloverleaf deformity; and type III is similar to type II, but without the cloverleaf deformity.

In people with Pfeiffer syndrome, the thumbs and first (big) toes are wide and bend away from the other digits (pollex varus and hallux varus). Unusually short fingers and toes (brachydactyly) are also common, and there may be some webbing or fusion between the digits (syndactyly).

The key problem is the early fusion of the skull, which can be corrected by a series of surgical procedures, often within the first three months after birth. Later surgeries are necessary to correct respiratory and facial deformities. Children with Pfeiffer syndrome types 2 and 3 "have a higher risk for neurodevelopmental disorders and a reduced life expectancy" than children with Pfeiffer syndrome type 1, but if treated, favorable outcomes are possible. In severe cases, respiratory and neurological complications often lead to early death.

This baby (sex unknown) was born with the condition "Alobar Holoprocencephaly". This is a condition in which the brain fails to divide into separate hemispheres, resulting in facial disfigurement, absent midline features of the face, fusion of the cerebral cavities, as well as other issues such as restricted breathing. Sadly, babies with this condition are most commonly stillborn, and those which do survive it, don't survive for particularly long - around 1 to 2 hours tops.

In intrauterine fetal death (IUFD) do not perform C/S.

Severe maternal infection with fatal sepsis is a substantial risk.

Deliver vaginally

By destructive delivery if needed

INSTRUMENTS

Basiotribe – Perforator – Heavy scissors – Delivery hook

CEPHALIC PRESENTATION

CRANIOTOMY

Perforate the skull with perforator or a pair of heavy scissors

In face presentations use an eye as entry point

Open the shanks of the perforator

Break all intracranial septa

Apply the basiotribe with the solid leg inside and fenestrated leg outside of the skull

Be careful not to catch part of cervix or vagina in the grip

Tighten grip as much as possible

Extract the fetus.

Do this slowly

Allow time for the head to collapse.

In lack of a basiotribe use:

Ordinary delivery forceps

Several heavy toothed clamps

Remove the placenta manually

Check with a hand in the uterine cavity for rupture

I was trying to eat an avocado and while attempting to remove the pit, the knife I was using slipped and went through the avocado, and through a part of my hand.

The doctors had a hard time believing me and one of them thought I was pretty stupid (I agree but still), and they had a harder time believing it didn't hurt much.

Unwrapped from the first aid I did.

After soaking for a few minutes in water and iodine. Stung like shit when I first put it in then stopped hurting all together after a few minutes.

I had to go to the bathroom after sitting there with my hand in the iodine bath for over an hour and instead of one of the nurses wrapping it up so I could go, one of them just took my hand out and tossed a rag to me and then said nothing, so I just had to sit there bleeding everywhere.

A different nurse wrapped it for me after 15-30 minutes so I could go, then I waited another 30 minutes to get it stitched. I look like a burn victim with the way they wrapped it.

They cleaned it again with iodine and saline before finally stitching it.

I just wanted to eat a fucking avocado, this shit hurts like hell now. I was in the hospital for almost four hours. I have to keep the wrapping on for two days and I have to leave the stitches in for two weeks. Luckily the nurses doing the stitches said I can have anyone I know who is a certified nurse take them out for me at home, and I know at least four people who are, including my mom and roommate, so after the two weeks are over I can get the stitches out without having to go back to the hospital.

This young man attempted suicide by decapitation with a chainsaw, and survived. It was successfully managed operatively.
