klahoma City, Oklahoma — On August 22, 2022, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Oklahoma City Police responded to the address of 2221 SW 78th St. on reports of multiple gunshots in the area. It was learned quickly that deputies with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office had exchanged gunfire with a person at this residence while serving an eviction notice. Two of the deputies were struck by the gunfire.

As responding officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect, 35-year-old Benjamin Plank had fled the residence in a vehicle trailering a boat. It was also learned the suspect had loaded several firearms into his vehicle prior to leaving. Benjamin Plank was spotted a short distance from the scene, shortly after the shooting occurred. Oklahoma City Police attempted to stop him on traffic when he refused, initiating a pursuit.

During the pursuit, while travelling northbound on S. I-35, the driver discharged rounds from a rifle at Oklahoma City Officers. Two involved officers were able to return fire toward the suspect. No injuries occurred from the gunfire. The suspect continued eastbound on Interstate-40 from Interstate-35 ultimately exiting at Air Depot Blvd. The suspect stopped at the Tinker Air Force Base gate and surrendered. Benjamin Plank was taken to an area hospital to be checked for injuries and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a multitude of charges including first-degree murder.

Both officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. Benjamin Plank is accused of fatally shooting Sgt. Bobby Swartz and wounding Deputy Mark Johns. Johns has since been released from the hospital. Court documents show that Plank also shot at but missed a third deputy.

Happened on May 2, 2024, around 9:30 am on route Penza - Shemysheyka, Penza Oblast, Russia

73 years old man in Ford was overtaking car with dash cam. The route was straight and the visibility was great.

Suddenly, while still on the oncoming lane, he lost control and crashed into UAZ coming from the opposite direction.

One witness said:

After overtaking, he was driving on the oncoming lane for the next 30 meters. There was enough space and time to get back on his lane.

I'd say that he was distracted by something. He was checking his phone or rear view mirror.

When he saw oncoming UAZ, he slammed on his brakes, swerved and crashed.

Ford driver and 41 years old female UAZ passenger died on spot. UAZ driver was injured.

Spain, A Dominican man was shot 5 times in the head by a hitman in broad daylight in Barcelona.

The accident that claimed the life of the Finnish rally co-driver Pasi Mielonen occurred during the third and last stage of the 1999 Salpausselkä-ralli.

It happened on Saturday, 29 May 1999. On the approach to a right bend on a gravel road, the Ford Escort Mk1 #57 driven by Jouni Hyyrynen went out of control, speared off the track, overturned and crashed into a tree on it's roof. The car's entire roof and roll cage was shredded. Severely injured Jouni Hyyrynen eventually recovered, his co-driver Pasi Mielonen was killed upon impact.

After the accident the rally, which was a national event, was immediately stopped. In 1999 the Finnish federation introduced in some rallies the so-called "safety notes", notes without any signal on the roads. The competitors had a road book with only distances from the start of the stage. So the teams had to carry trip-meters which would have counted the distances of corners, junctions and crossroads. It was reported that the bend in which the fatal accident happened, was not signaled on the "safety notes" and this conduced to much discussion about them. Alsoin consequence of this accident the "safety notes" try-out was abandoned.
