RIO BRANCO, BRAZIL – JANUARY 9, 2018 A 19-year-old girl, whose full name is Débora Freitas Bessa, disappeared on January 9, 2018. 2 days later, her family learned that the girl had been kidnapped during a robbery in the city of Rio Branco in the Brazilian state of Acre. A short time later, a video of her execution began circulating on social networks.

The footage shows Debora on her knees begging for her life, saying she did nothing wrong. But one of the men, the one holding the machete, tells the girl to look at the camera and tells her that she was guilty of killing his brothers. Further footage shows them cutting off her head and stabbing her in the stomach.

The police launched an intensive investigation because the case received quite a bit of media attention. They managed to catch one of the men in the video – the one with the machete. And then one woman, Luciele Souza do Nascimento, who was also supposed to participate in the execution. Both were sentenced by the court to 60 years in prison. After the appeal, however, he managed to reduce the sentence “only” to 36 and a half years. According to some sources, the two were supposed to be members of the well-known Brazilian cartel Comando Vermelho (CV).

It was already posted by @Jaish around 3 weeks ago, but I added a whole backstory. This is a rare case when video is recorded as it should be, and perpetrators clearly enjoy their job. Cameraman does, too. tl;dr: in the beginning of October 2001, three people were kidnapped by five Chechen militants from their home in the outskirts of Grozny. All but the cameraman were really young, the only convicted for now being 18 yo back then. One another may be still alive, the rest were killed by the Russian special forces. Tatiana Usmanova, 39 yo, was interrogated - or rather tortured, like them all - in front of her friend (she was later shot) and husband, the only surviving witness. The victims were accused of cooperating with local police and feds. Tape with the footage surfaced in the middle of 2004, when one guy was already in prison, and nearly all of his accomplices - dead. The first one was convicted in 2007, for now - he's still serving his time in penal colony. Rest of info under the video. Then she's brought down, dude tries the knife against her throat (seems to figure out how to cut it later). Around 6:30 tape on her mouth is cut off, another talking scene.

8:30 to 9:20 - taping her mouth around again, preparations for the beheading.

9:20 - beheading starts; two guys take turns on cutting and holding her down. 9:50 to 11:00 is black screen (covered camera only), then it's just aftermath visible and boasting with her cut off head until 12:50.

Robert Ward Hall (5 November 1949 – 13 June 2016) was a Canadian citizen kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf militants in the Philippines on 21 September 2015, and beheaded nine months later near Patikul, Sulu.

Kidnapping and death

Hall was kidnapped for ransom by Abu Sayyaf militants in the Philippines on 21 September 2015 in a raid on Holiday Ocean View Samal Resort on Samal Island near Davao in the southern Philippines. After gunmen disarmed the resort's security guards, four people were abducted: Canadians Robert Hall and John Ridsdel, resort marina manager Kjartan Sekkingstad (Norway), and Teresita Flor (Hall's Filipino girlfriend) who was released later in the month that Hall was beheaded.

Abu Sayyaf demanded $6 million for Hall's ransom. Negotiations for his release failed, and Hall was beheaded on 13 June 2016.

The last of this hostage group, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad, was released in September 2016. Hall's sister then felt free to speak openly and criticize the failure of the government of Canada to do anything decisive or effective to attempt rescue or save her brother.

26 yo Juliana (Jully) Pires moved to Salvador about 7 months before her death. She was previously living in a few neighbourhoods of Itabuna (São Pedro, Urbis IV, California and São Caetano) - lying around 220 km S in a straight line. She has already been arrested for involvement in a drug trafficking in Itabuna.

Videos first appeared on WhatsApp on 15th of May 2015. Version here is a merged one, on Documenting Reality both were posted separately. Initially, an exact reason for the murder was unknown. Juliana was often seen around either drug dealers or users in Itabuna. It's possible that she got romantically involved with someone in Salvador. Juliana's sister was still living in Itabuna, and was contacted to come to the Technical Police Department in Salvador to confirm the woman's identity.

Shosei Koda was a Japanese citizen who was kidnapped and later beheaded in Iraq on 29 October 2004, by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) group, while touring the country. He was the first Japanese person beheaded in Iraq.

Koda left Amman, Jordan on 20 October 2004. He ignored advice not to travel to Iraq, and entered the country, because he was curious on what happened there.

Koda's captors stated that they would "treat him like his predecessors Berg and Bigley" (Bigley was murdered just weeks before by the organization, before being known as Al Qaeda in Iraq) if Japan did not withdraw its forces from Iraq within 48 hours. The Japanese government headed by Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi refused to comply with these demands, stating that they will not concede to terrorists.

In the video sequence of Koda's murder, Koda sits on the American flag, his captors standing behind him. Koda's hands are tied behind his back. He is blindfolded while a captor reads a speech for two minutes and ten seconds. The captors then hold him down on the ground as they begin to decapitate him. Throughout the beheading, "Erhaby Ana", a nasheed, is played. The video sequence ends with shots of Koda's severed head on top of his body followed by shots of the banner of al-Qaeda in Iraq. His body was found in Baghdad on 30 October wrapped in an American flag.
