Father falls to death after son opens elevator by hand

Happened in Cengong county, southwest China.

Son impatiently opens the elevator door by hand, presumably that's a great idea,

Father walks in slowly to the shaft and then falls to his death.

Let me know if this is a repost

So was it a maintenance guy who was working on the elevator. he thought the old man was just going to have a look into the shaft. But because some old people in China don't fully understand how some technologies work. The old man just thought the elevator is always there if the door opens or something. Especially if they are from rural areas if heard they just don't understand things we take for granted. Otherwise why is the guy opening the door in the first place and why would he let his father just walk into it?

Chinese people seem to have complete trust in each other in a Country with the worst track record of community ethics.

What is up with Chinese people and their complete lack of awareness of their surroundings?

did he think by opening the doors himself the fucking elevator would then magically appear on his floor?

Why is common sense even rarer in China

might have something to do with them literally murdering every smart person exclusively for being a smart person. look up the cultural revolution

Lmfao. Yes. Chinese innovation doesn’t exist because they literally killed all the smart people. Looks like you must have survived the revolution

go on, what is your impression about mao's cultural revolution? care to make a counter point? why am i wrong?

Many were killed. Doesn’t mean all the smart people were killed. Chinese innovation has a arguably more vibrant than the US. Again. You must have survived Mao’s cultural revolution according to your theory

fair enough. sorry still shell-shocked from the cespit that is reddit. first instinct is to assume you didn't even know the concept. not to sound like that guy that shields behind one word, but I did say "might" . of course i don't know first hand and I'm firmly in the west's propaganda bubble so that could play a part too. but I'm still inclined to think if not the murder, there has definitely been a lot of brain drain in China from their past plus their treatment of the public today. doesn't mean an Engineer emigrating affects the dude ramming into a closed elevator door I guess. might have survived that revolution myself, definitely lol

There are definitely a lot of dumb deaths that come out of china. And definitely a lot of smart people were killed like you said too

this dude had used the emergency open key to open the door. just bizarre how miscommunication and stupid line up to cause this....

He thought they just turned into stairs

Why the hell would you open a liftdoor manually. If the door doesn't open it usually means the elevator is not at that floor...

Why doesn't it surprise me that it happened in China?
