I am not offended by Autism Jokes, racist jokes, fat jokes, or anything really, as this site has pretty much desensitized me to anything that really matters anymore, but as the father of an Autistic child it just always struck me as odd that people choose to use autism as an insult. So, this seemed like the right place to ask if any of you know why people here seem to equate being Autistic to being retarded or slow? Just based purely off behavior alone I think there is a clear difference between the cognitive abilities of an autistic person and a mentally delayed one. Am I overthinking this or is there some part of the joke I'm not getting? As far as I can see Autism primarily affects communication with others and information gathering, but mentally they seem to be mostly there.

march 2020, my mom was trying to clean a glass milk jug with hot water inside and it broke. as it broke she pushed it into her right wrist, she is right handed. not sure what structures specifically were sliced, but the two arteries running on the sides of our arms were nicked, a couple important nerves/tendons, and if it had gone any deeper she could’ve bled out. she has little to no feeling in her middle and pointer fingers along with her thumb. however today she can write and type and do just about everything because even though she can’t feel her fingers much she can still move them more than had been anticipated.

Trench diggers targeted by artillery fire

Santarem, PA, Brazil - Nov 26, 2022

The health status of the woman who was hit by a tire in front of the Santarém bus station, in western Pará, is stable according to doctors. She is still under observation and has already undergone exams in addition to being evaluated by the orthopedist and the neurologist. According to the note, she is not at risk so far.

The accident happened around 15:40 on Saturday (26), in front of the bus station. A tire came off a truck, crossed the BR-163 highway and hit the victim, identified as 43-year-old Ana Cláudia Menezes.
