‘B—-, you dead': Woman ‘marched' friend into alley at gunpoint and executed her, then claimed it was self-defense, police say

A 33-year-old woman in Washington state has been arrested for the coldblooded execution of one of her friends, allegedly leading the other woman into a back alley at gunpoint and repeatedly taunting her before shooting her multiple times.

Rickesha D. Overton was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with one count of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon in the slaying of Alisia DeCoteau, authorities announced.

According to a news release from the Seattle Police Department, officers at about 1:10 a.m. responded to an emergency call regarding shots being fired inside of a building in the 2500 block of Western Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders said they found a female victim in her 20s or 30s suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds in the alleyway between Wall St. and Vine.

Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures on the victim, later identified as DeCoteau, but were unable to resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators quickly identified the suspected shooter as Overton, who was located running from the scene and taken into custody. Police said she was carrying a handgun with an empty magazine when apprehended.

An excerpt from the charging documents released by the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office provided additional details about what happened in the last moments of the victim's life, which investigators learned by obtaining security footage of the shooting.

The footage allegedly showed Overton “holding the victim at gun point as she marches the victim down the stairs” of the apartment complex and to the building's back door, which leads into the alley way. After forcing the victim out the back door, Overton allegedly threw DeCoteau to the ground. Overton initially goes back inside of the building before apparently changing her mind.

“Internal stairway video captures the precise moment in which the defendant, still armed with a firearm, stops halfway up the stairs and changes course to head directly back through the door in which she just came, back to where she left the victim,” the charging document states. “Standing over the victim the defendant taunts her, stating ‘say I won't,' in essence daring the victim to question whether the defendant will in fact use very gun she's been holding over the victim against her. It's at this moment that the defendant shoots the victim multiple times, aiming the final shot into the back of the victim's head.”

In court documents obtained by Seattle CBS affiliate KIRO, authorities said that just prior to the shooting, Overton could be heard yelling at the victim, “I'll blow your mouth. Say I won't. Say I won't.”

After allegedly shooting the victim in the head, Overton reportedly continued to pull the trigger several times despite being out of ammunition. As DeCoteau was lying on the ground, Overton was allegedly heard yelling, “You dead b—-. B—-, you dead. She then proceeded to kick DeCoteau at least five times before a crowd of eyewitnesses intervened.

One of the witnesses began filming the grisly scene, which reportedly showed Overton pointing her handgun at the growing mass of people and screaming, “I'll blow your mother f—— brains out.”

When police first encountered Overton, she reportedly claimed that she killed DeCoteau in self-defense.

“She came into my apartment,” Overton allegedly said. “It was self-defense. I had to shoot her.”

A short while later, Overton reportedly began changing her story.

“She's not even dead,” the suspect allegedly said at one point. Later, she told police, “I don't care if you give me life,” adding, “I just want to go to Alisia (DeCoteau's) funeral.”

While the nature of the relationship between Overton and DeCoteau was not specified by authorities, KIRO confirmed that the two were friends on Facebook.

According to a GoFundMe page setup for DeCoteau's memorial, she was the mother to a baby who is now in the care of DeCoteau's older sister.

Amidst social unrest due to the economic crisis on December 4, 2001, Matías Bello, a municipal employee, took his own life in the office of the mayor of Tandil, Argentina, in front of local reporters who broadcast the event. This was the first live-streamed suicide in Argentina, although it is often confused with that of Malevo Ferreyra in 2008, whose recording is available: https://watchpeopledie.tv/h/suicide/post/18296/suicide-of-malevo-ferreyra-on-live.

Matías Bello, an ex-convict, faced a series of tragedies after achieving economic stability, including a murder accusation, the seizure of his house, and an HIV diagnosis. After these events, he chose to end his life in a dramatic way, involving people unrelated to his circumstances. During a press conference called by Bello to discuss the economic crisis, he interrupted the broadcast to go to the mayor's office. There, in front of the cameras, he committed suicide with a shotgun, after more than 20 minutes holding the weapon in front of more than 20 people. The full video of the event has not resurfaced on the internet, mainly due to the political and economic crisis that dominated media attention at the time, leaving Bello's suicide in the background. The only available record is a fragment in the documentary "La Argentina enloquecida..." - Matarse en TV, where Bello's final moment is briefly shown, although the screen goes black seconds before the shot.

Case reports

41 years old female resident in Brazil, with history of psychiatric disorders, who lived with her 73 year old father and her husband, a known alcoholic with history of physical violence to both father-in-law and wife.

She suffered a knife injury to the 2nd finger of the left hand, and was not able to seek immediate medical care; instead a handkerchief was used to control the bleeding and cover the wound. Six months after, neighbours were warned by a strong odour emitting from the finger, and took the patient to seek medical care.

She was presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with a large area of finger necrosis and amputation, associated with cellulitis extending from the finger's base to the hand; at naked eye, one could observe the live larvae infesting the healthy tissue in drilled pocket-like holes under the skin (Fig. 1). In face of such an advanced lesion, asphyxiation or pharmacologic treatment alone would not suffice, and prompt treatment was conducted – broad-spectrum antibiotics and tetanic prophylaxis were initiated, and she was submitted to extended surgical resection (metacarpophalangeal disarticulation) and mechanical removal of 132 live larvae. Entomological study (morphological study) determined it to be Cochliomyia hominivorax (Diptera: Calliphoridae) – New World Screworm (NWS) – larvae. Besides infestation treatment, the socio-economic problems were identified and conducted to the proper social services.

A 52-year-old man presented with bilateral foot pain worsening on the left preventing him from ambulating. He recalled developing frostbite of all ten toes 4-5 months prior to admission, when at that time, he was admitted to a local hospital and underwent right transmetatarsal amputation but did not follow-up with his wound care. The patient was homeless and dwelled in shelters and abandoned houses. He reported developing erythema, tenderness and swelling of his left foot; however, he did not seek medical attention because he otherwise felt “ok.” He reported seeing maggots on the left foot but stated that “the maggots are fine, they are cleaning it out.” He denied fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or lightheadedness. On physical examination, the patient's vital signs were normal except for mild tachycardia, which immediately resolved with one bolus of intravenous normal saline. His left foot (Figures 1 and 2) revealed severe skin ulceration extending to the mid-foot, exposing all phalangeal bones, and many colonies of maggots. There was surrounding erythema, swelling, tenderness and malodor, but otherwise clean margins with no necrotic tissue or purulence. Left peripheral pulses were normal at the dorsal pedis. Laboratory tests revealed no leukocytosis, lactic acidosis, and negative serial blood cultures. Imaging revealed acute on chronic osteomyelitis of left foot. The patient underwent an uncomplicated left below knee amputation and revision of previous right transmetatarsal amputation. He was discharged to rehabilitation but has not adhered to outpatient wound follow-up.

An 80 years-old female patient was brought to Accident & Emergency Department of a hospital in southern Poland by ambulance, presenting with a large ulcerative lesion covering most of the right side of her face and the nose. The wound was approximately 15x12 cm and encompassed the right eye socket with missing eye bulb; one could see moving maggots surrounded by liquefied tissues. The patient was in poor general status, not able to move and with very little mental contact, severely dehydrated with yellowish skin colour and visibly malnourished and hygienically neglected

The patient was found by accident during a police intervention in a flat inhabited by her alcoholic son. By accounts of her son, she was recently bedridden and an ulcerating lesion on her face was possibly noted many months before. There was no medical care sought and the sanitary conditions in the living quarters were very poor.

A 60-year-old male, smoker, and alcoholic patient with OSCC, who refused initial cancer treatment and sought hospital care with an extensive facial lesion and approximately 150 larvae in the extraoral region. The treatment was given through the administration of 6 mg of Ivermectin associated with the surgical removal of the larvae. Subsequently, palliative chemotherapy began.

44-year-old man diagnosed with invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma. The treatment consisted of manual removal of the larvae and cleaning with aqueous chlorhexidin. The patient's management was antisepsis, larval removal, and general care, performed weekly. The patient died 2 months later.

After a minor motor vehicle accident, police brought a 75-year-old man to the emergency room because he was observed to have a large cranial lesion. Examination revealed a 15 x 17 cm frontal bone defect with eroded frontal dura, exposed cortex, and massive cortical maggot infestation.

The patient was empirically treated with intravenous antibiotics for meningitis. Maggots (Phaenicia sericata, or the green bottle fly) were removed by suction, attrition, and gentle contact exposure to a mild bleach solution. Biopsy of the scalp and cranium revealed angiosarcoma, for which operative treatment was refused. The patient was transferred to a skilled nursing facility for palliative care where he died 3 months later.

43-year old homeless alcoholic male had gangrene of the scrotum and penis, urethro-cutaneous urinary fistula with numerous live and motile larvae on the surfaces. In both patients, some larvae were removed and sent to the lab for identification. The larvae were identified as maggots of the fly Luciliasericata. Antibiotic therapy, disinfection, and debridement with sterile covering of the wound were used. RESULTS For both patients, complex treatment of myiasis was successful, and patient recovered without parasitic consequences

Patient 73 years old, born in São Paulo. He reported an ulcerated lesion on the penis for eight months with progression in size during the period and also local pain and left inguinal nodulation. The main comorbidities were diabetes mellitus, hypertension, varicose ulcers in both lower limbs and obesity. There was no family history of neoplastic disease. The patient underwent incisional biopsy of the penile lesion. The diagnosis was invasive squamous cell carcinoma

After chest X-ray and computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis, he was clinically staged as EcT2cN2M0. The proposal was partial amputation of the penis. While the patient waited to be called for surgery, he presented himself at the emergency room, with local bleeding and larvae emerging from the lesion. On the same date, he underwent treatment of penile squamous cell carcinoma and myiasis through partial penectomy

The anatomopathological report showed a squamous cell carcinoma of 6.0 × 4.4 × 3.3 cm, moderately differentiated infiltrating the glans, foreskin and balanoprepucial groove. Absence of infiltration of the cavernous and spongy body. There were free surgical margins. He evolved without dehiscence or infection of the postoperative wound, being discharged on the second postoperative day and receiving an outpatient orientation after antimicrobial treatment with clindamycin for ten days for scheduling bilateral inguinal lymphadenectomy

a 67-year-old homeless woman with hearing impairment who is living in extremely poor sanitary conditions and was taken by a friend to the gynecology service of a public hospital from Cali, Colombia. The patient presented with a clinical picture of undetermined onset, consisting of ulcerated lesions in the vulvar region, tenderness, and multiple larvae coming out of her vagina (Figure 1). Obstetric and gynecologic history was unknown. On physical examination, she had an edematous vulva, with multiple live maggots in the vulvar vestibule. After initial extraction of maggots, necrotic tissue, edema, friable tissue, and erythema was evident in the vulvar region and introitus.

She was admitted to the hospital for management and for investigation. She was initially evaluated by the gynecology team, and direct examination revealed multiple larvae in the vulvar vestibule and introitus. She was also evaluated by a multidisciplinary team, including clinical nutrition and psychiatry and was tested for other infections. During her stay, she was diagnosed with HIV, syphilis, and schizophrenia.

Although several larvae were extracted, no specimen was sent for larval species identification. Identifying the species may not change the treatment but is important to understand the epidemiology of local urogenital myiasis. It has been recommended that at least one maggot should be sent to the laboratory for identification of the species for epidemiologic purposes

An 85-year-old female patient was admitted to the Department of Ophthalmology, Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, with the complaint of a wound in her right eye for over 1 year. Larvae had been in the same eye for 1 week. The patient had a history of an acne-like lesion for 7 years in her lower eyelid, which had been excised 2 years previously in another clinic. One year after excision it had recurred in the same region. Despite all our attempts, we could not obtain the documents on the patient's initial surgery.

The clinical examination showed no light perception in her right eye; the eyelid was thickened and there was a necrotic, loose tissue lesion 3×4 cm in diameter, invading inferiorly into the upper side of the maxilla, superiorly to the roof of the orbita, medially to the lateral part of the nose, and laterally to the ossa zygomatica (Figure 1).The conjunctiva was hyperemic, the cornea was cloudy, the iris was normal, pupils were normal, and light responses were absent. There was a cataract in the lens of the right eye and the fundus could not be examined.

Light-sensitive and motile larvae were detected in the lesion. With forceps, 71 larvae were extracted from the lesion within 48 hours (Figure 2). The larvae had 12 segments and were 8–15 mm in length. By parasitological examination, it was determined that the larvae were in the third developmental phase of Hypoderma bovis, a member of the Oestridae family.

Visual acuity in the patient's left eye was 2/200 and intraocular pressure was 15 mm Hg. Anterior segment findings were normal except for an inferiorly dislocated lens with cataract. By ultrasound, both globes were evaluated as normal. A 3×4 cm-diameter solid mass with heterogeneous density filled the right maxillary sinus, and superiorly reached the nasal bone and medial rectus muscle. The impaired bone structure in the right eye was detected by computed tomography (CT). No escaped larvae were detected in the CT scan. The ocular bulbus, retrobulbar space, extraocular muscles and optic nerve were normal in the left eye. No intracranial invasion was found by CT. No metastasis was detected in other examinations.

Orbital exenteration, total maxillectomy and graft repair were conducted in the right eye. Pathological examination confirmed basal cell carcinoma. During the six-month period of follow-up, orbital tomography and clinical examinations were performed, and the patient was examined and evaluated for recurrence and metastasis.

Man is extremely casually shot dead when he walks towards his killers - April 18, 2024

Xinguara, Brazil

Elias Vidal da Silva, 27 years old, was shot dead on Thursday afternoon (18), in the Marajoara II sector, in Xinguara, in the south of Pará. An internal surveillance circuit recorded the moment he was executed by two men on a motorbike. The police suspect that the crime was motivated by debts from drug trafficking.

From the security camera images, it is possible to see the arrival of the suspects. At 3:29 pm, Elias approaches the duo, who are on a motorcycle. According to authorities, this approach shows that the victim knew both men.

A few seconds later, the driver of the vehicle pulls out a firearm. Elias still defends himself, but soon tries to escape. While running, he is shot in the back and falls to the ground, already unconscious.

The man was found by residents of the Alto Paraná neighborhood in a container that was positioned on Avenida Alceu Veronese, close to the bus terminal.

The pillion rider gets off the motorcycle and approaches the victim. He also pulls a gun from his waist and fires at least two shots at Silva. Afterwards, the suspect takes out his cell phone and films the moment in which he shoots Elias' body more times. Afterwards, he returns to the motorcycle and the two involved in the crime escape.

One of the suspects, whose name was not revealed, has already been identified by the police and even has a history of drug trafficking. According to a source linked to the police, Elias, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, did not know that the duo would collect the drug debt and, therefore, was taken by surprise. Furthermore, Silva was identified by authorities as a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Redenção.

This Friday morning (19), the 17th Military Police Battalion (17th BPM) and the Civil Police carried out investigations after one of the suspects. To date, none of those involved in the crime have been arrested.

https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/2023/04/06/milwaukee-police-release-footage-of-fatal-shootings-of-officer-and-man/70090458007/

7 February 2023

The Milwaukee Police Department on Thursday released redacted bodycam footage of the fatal shooting that left officer Peter Jerving and Milwaukee resident Terrell Thompson dead.

As a second officer is caught in a physical struggle with Thompson, the footage shows Jerving run up to the two to assist in the arrest. Thompson draws a gun and fires at Jerving, forcing him to retreat. But Jerving then runs back again to help.

It's then that both men exchange gunfire, at perhaps point-blank range, killing each other. Both Jerving, 37, and Thompson, 19, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Jerving was the fifth Milwaukee police officer to die in the line of duty since 2018, and the first since 2019. He was a four-year veteran of the department and was assigned to District Four on Milwaukee's northwest side, where he grew up.

He was lauded by colleagues, friends and family for being a dedicated officer and a thoughtful, caring person outside work as well.

Hours before the shooting, Thompson was in court for sentencing on two misdemeanor hit-and run cases, one of which was dismissed in a plea agreement. He received a year of probation.

His mother, Tamera Brown, told the Journal Sentinel at the time that she was in disbelief about her son's involvement in the shooting and said Thompson seemed to be fine after receiving his sentencing.

The second officer is not named in the video. The wife of Jerving's usual patrol partner of four years told the Journal Sentinel in February that both men were training new officers the night of the shooting.

The second officer never fired his weapon and was not placed on administrative duty, according to police.

An investigation into the incident, led by the Brookfield Police Department, remains ongoing, police said. It will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

The video released Thursday via YouTube is just over eight minutes long and includes limited and edited body camera footage from Jerving and the second officer. Together, they tried apprehending Thompson in the early morning hours of Feb. 7 in connection with an armed robbery that occurred less than two hours beforehand.

The video is accompanied with narration by Assistant Chief Paul Formolo.

According to the video:

Shortly after an armed robbery was reported at 11:31 p.m. Feb. 6 on the 2600 block of West Good Hope Road, Jerving and the second officer identified Thompson as a suspect.

The video includes a radio broadcast Jerving made to other officers sometime after the incident was reported. He identifies Thompson as the suspect and circulates a description of him and of the incident: a man reportedly smacked car keys and a phone out of a woman's hand and made off with her car and phone.

Formolo said Jerving and the second officer later received information that Thompson was possibly in the area of the 2700 block of South 14th Street, on the city's south side.

When they arrived, around 1:14 a.m., they located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot with a man and woman inside. As police approached, the two exited the car and walked toward an apartment building.

Jerving immediately calls out to the man: “Terrell! Terrell! Don't make us run.” The woman stops and raises her arms in the air, but officers continue walking after Thompson until he turns a corner and runs.

The two officers give chase, splitting up as they wind through several buildings.

After Thompson slips on some snow, the second officer catches up with him and a physical struggle ensues. As Jerving arrives and approaches the two, body camera footage shows Thompson producing a handgun.

A gunshot is heard.

“Whoa, (expletive),” Jerving yells.

He retreats and falls down as he does. Two more gunshots are heard.

“Stop!” Jerving said.

The video transitions to footage from Jerving's body camera. Jerving reports shots are fired over the radio. His own handgun is visible as he runs back toward Thompson and the second officer, who are still struggling with each other.

Once Jerving is within arm's reach of the two, another shot is heard and Jerving begins crying out in pain.

At some point, Jerving also returned fire. Both his and Thompson's handguns were recovered afterward. A photo shows Thompson's had an extended magazine.

Hitman strikes his target at a fried chicken restaurant - April 18, 2024

Aftermath:

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

The National Police identified the young man who was shot dead by unknown assailants this Thursday night when he was having dinner at a pica pollo, located on Albert Thomas Avenue and Padre Castellano (17), in the National District.

This is Yale Manuel Duval García, 33 years old, who had three criminal charges for robbery and homicide, according to uniformed spokesman Diego Pesqueira.

"When we searched our files, he appears with three records or files: one for homicide in 2018 and two others for robberies in both 2016 and 2010," said Pesqueira.

The police spokesperson added that in relation to the crime there are several detainees for investigation purposes.

"The National Police has four people under investigation," he said.

The murder of Yale Manuel Duval García was captured in a video that circulates on social networks, where he is seen sitting next to another person at a table in the establishment, moments in which the aggressor, without saying a word, started shooting at him.

Subsequently, the perpetrator, who was wearing a black coat and blue jean pants, fled to an unknown destination.

Dan Wheldon dies in brutal fatal indyCar crash

Bird's-eye view and pov

Dan Wheldon was a charismatic Englishman who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2005 and 2011. He took a gamble at the age of 19 and moved to the United States to further his career, and quickly found success in “stepping-stone” series, progressing rapidly. Between 2002 and 2011, Wheldon had 128 starts in IndyCar races and won 16, including the 2005 race in which he reclaimed the lead from Danica Patrick on Lap 194 and outlasted a charging Vitor Meira. His Hollywood-like win at the 100th Anniversary “500” in 2011, in which rookie driver J.R. Hildebrand hit the wall exiting Turn 4 on the final lap, allowing Wheldon to narrowly beat Hildebrand's wounded car to the finish line, was one of the most improbable, emotional victories in racing history. Wheldon finished second to Tony Kanaan for the 2004 IndyCar title, won it in 2005, and tied Sam Hornish Jr. in points for 2006 but lost the championship on a tiebreaker. Earlier that year, Wheldon won the Rolex 24-Hours at Daytona with teammates Scott Dixon and Casey Mears. Wheldon's record at IMS was stellar: In addition to two wins, Wheldon finished third in 2004, fourth in 2006 (after leading 148 laps) and was runner-up in 2009 and 2010. Tragically, he lost his life in a multi-car accident at Las Vegas on October 16, 2011.
